The Music Residency Program is hosted and offered by St. Tikhon’s Monastery, America’s oldest Orthodox monastery, located in beautiful, northeast Pennsylvania.

We are surrounded by rural beauty of woods and ponds, yet we are only 30 minutes outside of Scranton and 2.5 hours from New York City.

The monastery address is: 175 St. Tikhons Rd, Waymart PA 18472.

TRAVEL PLANNING:

FLIGHTS: The closest airport is Wilkes-Barre (AVP), 30 minutes from the monastery, or Newark (EWR), which is 2.5 hour drive, but flights are typically less expensive.

LODGING: The monastery does have limited guest quarters available - please visit their accommodations page here to inquire about staying at one of the guesthouses on monastery grounds.

We also recommend Hotel Anthracite in Carbondale, Pa, which is about 15 minutes from St. Tikhons. Alternatively, there is a Comfort Inn approximately 20 min. from the monastery.

Another great option is booking through AirB&B - there are a number of AirB&B’s in the Honesdale, PA area, which is 11 miles / 18 min. from the monastery. You can also search for places near Lake Ariel or Waymart.
