We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 residency year!

Thank you for your interest in applying for the St. Tikhon’s Music Residency Program - below you will find an outline of the steps to apply.

As a resident student, you will be immersed in the musical and liturgical life at St. Tikhon’s and you will be trusted with
leadership roles and responsibilities. Through the application process, we will make sure that this program is a good fit for you.

 

Music Residency Application Process

 Step 1 — Registration Form

  • Fill out the registration form


 Step 2— Submit Application Materials

Email the following application materials to admin@stmarts.org by June 15, 2025 for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year, though we encourage you to apply sooner. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until the limited resident seats are filled. If your application is not accepted for the upcoming academic year, you may be invited to attend the following academic year.

  • Music Resume: 1-2 page written document listing your musical training, performance and leadership experience

  • Personal Statement: 500 words or less expressing your interest in the residency program and your goals

  • References: contact information for and letters from one personal reference and one musical reference

  • Sample Video Recordings: conducting sample video and vocal sample video (vocal repertoire provided)


 Step 3— In-Person Audition & Interview

Audition and Interview date : Once we have reviewed your application, we will contact you to schedule your audition and interview, which include the following:

  1. Vocal Performance: Come prepared to sing a piece of solo vocal repertoire of your choice

  2. Sight Reading Assessment: You will be asked to sing a given melody in your own register

  3. Range Demonstration: You will be guided through some vocal exercises to demonstrate your vocal range

  4. Music Theory Assessment: You will complete an in-person written music theory assessment that covers note recognition, key signatures, scales and intervals.
    We suggest using tonesavvy.com to practice these skills in preparation for your assessment.

  5. Interview: You will have a conversation with the program administration and faculty about your past experiences and future goals
