We are very excited to invite you to our winter conducting retreat with Fr. Caleb Lewis, St. Tikhon’s Director of Music!

Conductors of all levels are welcome to join us for this special weekend!

Each conducting registrant will receive one-on-one instruction and feedback from Fr. Caleb to help you grow in your conducting skill and hone your technique.

We have available discounted registration for students, or anyone who would like to come observe / audit for the weekend.


RETREAT SCHEDULE:

Friday
7-9pm — First Session

Saturday
7:40am Divine Liturgy
9:30am— Coffee & light breakfast after Divine Liturgy
10-Noon — Second Session
Noon-1pm — Lunch Provided
1-3:30pm — Third session
4-6pm — Monastery Vigil

Sunday
9:10AM — Divine Liturgy
11:30-1pm — Final Session: Coffee Hour/Q&A with Fr. Caleb

On Saturday a light breakfast & lunch will be provided.

Lodging is not included for this event —if you are traveling for the retreat please visit this page on our websitefor details about getting here and recommendations for accommodations. We are not able to provide airport pick-up or transport.

All retreat sessions will be held in the St. Tikhon’s Monastery Music Center (above the monastery bookstore) located at 175 St. Tikhons Rd, Waymart PA 18472. In addition to the workshop sessions, participants are welcome & encouraged to attend Divine Services at St. Tikhon’s Monastery during the weekend.

Fr. Caleb Lewis is a priest of the Orthodox Church and serves at the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk. He is Director of Music for the monastery and seminary communities, serving on the faculty of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary as well as for the St. Tikhon’s Music Program.

Prior to moving to Pennsylvania with his wife, Dr. Tabitha Lewis, Fr. Caleb was Director of Choirs at the University of California, Davis. He worked throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as a conductor, clinician, baritone soloist, and chorister with such ensembles as the American Bach Soloists, the San Francisco Choral Artists, and the San Francisco Bach Choir. He is committed to preparing future church musicians and priests who can beautify the worship of the Orthodox Church.
